Alberta's retail trade value decreased by 30.5% in April 2020 compared to April 2019, to $4.8 billion. Nationally, retail sales decreased by 32.5% over the same time frame. In Alberta, food & beverages (+14.5%) saw the only increase, while clothing and accessories had the largest decrease (-89.0%). These figures reflect pandemic shutdown orders.
