Alberta's retail trade value increased by 4.4% in December 2020 compared to December 2019, to $7.1 billion. Nationally, retail sales increased by 3.3% over the same time frame. In Alberta, motor vehicle and parts (+21.1%) had the largest increase, while clothing and accessories had the largest decrease (-22.8%). Alberta businesses recorded $79.1 billion in retail trade in 2020, down 2.5% from 2019. Nationally, retail trade was down 1.4% year-over-year to $605.5 billion.
