In Alberta, urban housing starts totaled 1,791 in May 2019, a year-over-year decrease of 37.7%. Canadian housing starts increased by 3.1% over the same period. Alberta also experienced a general decline across housing types: single-detached and semi-detached housing decreased by 27.8% and 4.3%, respectively, row units fell 7.7% and apartment units by 63.5%.
