Average Weekly Earnings
Average weekly earnings are derived by dividing total weekly earnings (including overtime earnings) by the number of employees. This data is compiled from the Survey of Employment, Payrolls and Hours which is a business census of non-farm payroll employees.

In May 2019, average weekly earnings in Alberta were $1,161, a 3.4% increase from May of 2018. Nationally, average weekly earnings were $1,028 in May, up 3.7% from the same period in 2018. Alberta's April average wage of $1,161 was ahead of the next highest province, Newfoundland and Labrador, at $1,055.
