The value of homes sold in Alberta through the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) increased 10.2% to $2.06B in April 2017 compared to the same time period a year earlier. Home sales were down in British Columbia (-9.3%), Newfoundland (-26.2%), and Saskatchewan (-20.0%).
Fort McMurray (+42.4%) and Medicine Hat (+33.7%) saw the largest increases in the province, while Red Deer (-8.8%) saw the greatest decline.
Nationally, home sales are up 1.4%. Alberta's sales value of $2.21 billion in April 2017 represented about 7.45% of the Canadian total.
