The dollar volume of homes sold in Alberta through the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) increased 15.1% to $1.19 billion in December 2017 compared to the same time period a year earlier. Nationally, total sales values were up 10.2%, with Prince Edward Island posting the largest increase (+40.4%) . Ontario sales continued decrease, falling 4.1% year over year. Alberta's sales value of $1.19 billion in December 2017 represented 8.9% of the Canadian total.
In Alberta, Grande Prairie (+42.4%), Edmonton (+23.1%), and Lethbridge (+19.3%) posted the largest year over year increases.
