In Alberta, urban housing starts totaled 1,687 in December 2017, a year-over-year decrease of 14.1%. Canadian starts increased 6.6% over the same period. In Alberta, single-detached and row units increased 8.3% and 67.7% respectively, while semi-detached decreased 14.9% and apartments decreased 75.1%. In 2017, Alberta urban housing starts totaled 27,625, a 22.1% increase from 2016.
