Average Weekly Earnings
Average weekly earnings are derived by dividing total weekly earnings (including overtime earnings) by the number of employees. This data is compiled from the Survey of Employment, Payrolls and Hours which is a business census of non-farm payroll employees.

In March 2018, average weekly earnings in Alberta were $1,154, up 2.7% from the same period in 2017. Nationally, average weekly earnings were $1,002 in March, up 2.9% from the same period last year. Alberta's March average wage of $1,154 was well ahead of the next highest province, Newfoundland and Labrador, at $1,043.
