The number of air passengers passing through Alberta's three largest airports increased 8.7% in April 2017 compared to the same period a year earlier. 45.1% of those passengers went through Calgary International Airport as domestic passengers. Calgary transborder passengers saw the greatest increase (+15.0%) followed closely by Edmonton domestic passengers (+14.8%), while Fort McMurray domestic traffic saw the greatest drop (-12.7%) compared to the same month a year earlier.
