The number of air passengers passing through Alberta's three largest airports increased 6.3% in May 2017 compared to the same period a year earlier. 47.6% of those passengers went through Calgary International Airport as domestic passengers. Fort McMurray saw the largest increase at 560.8% -- this was due to the impacts of the wildfire a year previously. Otherwise, the largest increase was seen in Calgary's transborder traffic (+8.2%), while Edmonton's transborder traffic saw the largest decline (-8.5%) compared to the same month a year earlier.
